Hi!
I like learning languages.
Sometimes I may make mistakes in my sentences, so please let me know if you see any.
toki!
mi pilin pona tan ni: kama sona e toki mute.
tenpo mute ala la, mi ken pali e linja nimi ike. sina lukin linja nimi ike mi la o toki e ni tawa mi!
sona lili (lon toki Inli):
- li
⚬ Similar to English "is" (for example, "ni li pona." = "This is good.").
⚬ Used to separate subject and predicate.
⚬ Used always, EXCEPT for when the subject is single "mi" or "sina" ("sina pona." or "mi pona.")
⚬ The predicate can be an action, an adjective, or a noun:
- “jan ni li tawa.” → “This person is walking/running/moving.”;
- “ona li jan pona.” → “He/she is a friend.”;
- “kili ni li ike.” → “This fruit is rotten/bad.”;
- la
⚬ Connects the left part of the sentence as a context.
⚬ Can be used for "if x then y" or "in the context of x, y."
⚬ It does not mean exact forms of context. In fact, it simply connects two parts without any specific meaning.
⚬ It can be used more than one time in one sentence. But the more "la"s you add, the harder it is to understand.
⚬ Few good examples with English translations: #12433408 #11015426 #12111244
- e
⚬ Separates the predicate and the object. ("mi wile e kasi." = "I want the fruit.")
⚬ Usually marks that the action is being done to the object.
⚬ Used with nouns (adjectives are not separated from the parent noun/verb).
⚬ Few good examples with English translations: #13212690 #13206049 #13139033 #12905886 #12420537
- pi
⚬ Used to regroup modifiers (adjectives).
⚬ When used repeatedly, there is no precise definition of how pi affects a sentence. It can change either the first word before the first group or the previous group. Multiple uses are not recommended due to ambiguity.
⚬ My list of good examples with English translations: https://tatoeba.org/ru/sentences_lists/show/173822
- Example of ambiguity:
— lipu pi sona mute pi toki Inli.
Can be interpreted 2 ways ( [ ] → Modifier group ; * * → Modified word ):
→ *lipu* [pi sona mute] [pi toki Inli]. → The English book with much knowledge.
→ *lipu* [*pi sona mute* [pi toki Inli]]. → The book with much knowledge about the English language.
