"sticky fingers" seems to be an american idiom meaning, here, "The habit of stealing things you see and want."

I would like to have a native's opinion, possibly the author's himself, because that is indeed my reading, but Fekundulo debates this on my French translation...

Not sure about the author since, most likely, this sentence originates from Tanaka corpus, but having a native's opinion won't do any harm anyway.
