
As far as I know, "octopuses" is actually preferred over "octopi". "Octopi" arose from a misconception that "octopus" is a Latin word like "locus" with nominative plural "loci".
(I've read before that both are acceptable, but Chrome's spell-check disagrees.)

It actually is "octopuses." "Octopi" is apparently bad Latin. I'll go ahead and re-record it when I do my next batch of English sentences.
