Algo me parece mal en esta frase. Si quiere decir se incendió, el fuego se prendió en la cortina, pero lo veo al revés.

prenderse fuego = incendiarse
La expresión general es "prender fuego a algo".
En este caso el uso reflexivo indica que no se conoce (o no se especifica)
la causa del incendio y no que la cortina uso un fósforo :D.

Perdón pero no logro entender por qué es reflexivo. Prender fuego a algo es cuando alguien inflama una cosa, prenderse fuego lo entiendo como algo se inflama por una razón (tal vez desconocida).

No sé cómo explicarlo, puede sonar raro, lo entiendo, si interpretas
la oración textualmente. Pero la interpretación no textual es muy común
mira por ejemplo el siguiente recorte:

La interpretación textual solo es válida si el sujeto es una persona.
