I can see that some Dutch sentences are almost identical to their English sources to the point that sometimes, without even learning Dutch, one could guess their meaning. But I'm fully aware that Dutch, like Arabic, has a much more elaborate grammar than English, although perhaps Arabic grammar is much more elaborate (with an often irregular plural system and an elaborate conjugation).
Yeah. Not counting small minority languages (like Scots and Frisian), Dutch is the language that is closest to English.
