If the English phrase is the original one, the Chinese translation should be "洋裝“ instead of “裙子“

Thanks for your comment but I don't see why "dress" cannot be translated as 裙子. Would you mind to elaborate a bit on this?

Dress:A "one-piece" outer garment for women or girls.
Skirt:A garment "hanging from the waist" and worn by women and girls.
They are quite different. If I wear a dress, I don't have to wear anything else to cover my upper body. Where as if I wear a skirt, I would need another piece of clothing, like a shirt or a blouse to go with it.
