estará correcta la traducción árabe-inglés? ya que la frase en inglés habla de "enseñar" y por este lado de "estudiar"

In Arabic, يدرس (with no shaddah on the ر) means "estudia". However, the same word could be written with a shaddah on the ر, meaning "enseña".

Therefore, it's up to us to decide how to read the Arabic (one can add a shaddah, and one can decide that a shaddah is there, although it's not written).

The bottom line is that both interpretations, "studies" and "teaches", are possible for the current sentence.

I believe the only way to understand يدرس here is "teaches" - although there is no shaddah here, mind you :)

As to the verb you suggested, hayastan, يعلم - indeed, this would certainly mean "teaches" ("enseña"). But then again, if it means "teaches", it would have a shaddah (but the shaddah is usually not written).
