hey, I'm not sure about this but should United Kingdom, Great Britain (Britain), England be handled separately ? I don't know either what the Japanese goes by.
So far Spanish and Catalan say England; French, Italian, Polish and English stand with Great-Britain or Britain; and Chinese ones have United Kingdom.

Both 英国 and イギリス refer to the United Kingdom (the state).
I believe, that the term “Britain” may actually refer to either the state of the United Kingdom (of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) or the island of Great Britain.

Britain refers to the island. Northern Ireland is not located in Britain but in Ireland which is yet another very distinct island if you look on a map... Hence the difference between the UK and Britain.
