by Walter Benjamin
(please do not add as a tag since most don't know who he was, and we will have few quotes from him, and so it could lead to tag explosion if we add a tag for every person on the Earth that has his wiki page).
Hehe, Walter Benjamin estas pli konata ol vi supozas. ☺
Sorry, that's not the language I wanted to talk to you.
Jeg mener: Walter Benjamin er bedre kjent enn du tror.
Among translators and academia, he is quite famous. I was thinking about general public. In any case, you have my permission to add a tag, if you wish. :)
I believe that it's Tatoeba's policy that you must add a tag to quotes. Otherwise, it would make it seem like you wrote this.
I would say "The translator's task". I think that something is not right with the rest of the translation, but I can't fix it, sorry.
Thanks, I've abandon it.
The first part of the sentence ("The translator's task is to find the power in their language that evokes an echo of the originals") appears in various places on the Internet where "The Task of the Translator" is translated. However, none of these links contains the second part of the sentence (following the semicolon). That's also the problematic part. In English, we speak of an echo of something, not an echo on something. I'll make that change, but the quote mismatch still makes this a problematic Tatoeba sentence to me.
