
"used to use" - sounds way awkward.

"used to use" is perfectly correct English.

The next thing you tell me is that "going to go" is normal too.

"going to go" is perfectly acceptable English!
Example:
"I am going to go and visit my sick uncle this afternoon."
I can't understand why you want to argue the fine points of English with native English speakers. There are many, many nuances in any language which are pefectly natural to the native speaker but which confuse the non-native speaker.
