@MisterTrauser
Auch hier wäre mir das ‚nicht‘ ohne ‚t‘ am Ende zu DEUTSCH ;-)
Ich glaube, das war nur eine kleine Unachtsamkeit bei der Aufnahme wegen dem nachfolgenden ‚h‘ von ‚helfen‘...
Chris? @MisterTrouser
I am still waiting for a MisterTrouser comment...
@CK
I'd guess mramosch would re-record it soon.
I'm ok with the audio getting removed.
The t in “nicht” isn’t pronounced very clearly, but I found the recording OK the first few times I listened to it. If MisterTrouser is absolutely sure and agrees that it should be removed, then go ahead. :)
Not when using Standard Pronunciation! It is more of a german German peculiarity to drop the T at the tail of words. Not in Switzerland or Austria at all. That‘s how you got your ‚is‘ in English (ist -> is)... ;-)
In Austria you would rather drop the ‚ch‘ and say ‚nit‘ instead of ‚nicht‘.
Everybody would understand it, of course, but it is dialectal. And you can hear it in many german German speaker’s sentences, that when they start a recording session and they are fresh minded, they pronounce it correctly but later on when their voices get a little tired and concentration starts dropping they also more often fall back into dialectal behavior.
Here the T is clearly missing, you know because the ‚ch‘ sound before the missing T gets much longer when the T is dropped, I had to repair such sentences hundreds of times in my career but pasting a T from an other sample to the end of ‚nichhh‘ would make it sound unnatural because of the long ‚chh‘ or subsequently sound cut off when you shorten the ‚chh‘ in your Digital Audio Workstation‘ before adding an ‚artificial‘ T.
It takes too much time in postproduction so that you as an Audio Engineer start being picky about it already at recording time...
How does tatoeba handle different accents in general? (e.g. Australian VS American English - which can be very different at times)
Is this an already-decided topic?

I guess that means it's not really decided, yet.
> If MisterTrouser is absolutely sure
Trouserman is sure, that the recording sound the most natural in his environment. (He personally would even correct a German-learner to drop the "t" more to sound more natural.)
But he is not sure if keeping the sentence is the globally right decision.
And he should stop speaking of himself in the 3rd person.
That being said, my final comment here:
- I'd keep the sentence.
- mramosch could re-record the sentence to upload it at a certain time (see https://github.com/Tatoeba/tato...mment-58473059 )
😊
I should say the topic is closed then.
