I wonder if Null and whitespace both work for the Japanese.
I wonder too, but since the dictionaries have whitespace for 空白 I felt it would be safe to add that version.
Here is one way to check if the regular expression is the same for both.

Most of the results for "regex 空白" are Chinese. You need to get "lr=lang_ja" in there. Null is often 空文字.
