Well, I understand your point, I would disagree with using arabic alphabet to write in Lebanese though (https://medium.com/east-med-pro...-e95320c164c).

The main reason is that if we write Lebanese with Arabic letters then we are degrading it since it has been influenced by arabic but is not a dialect of it.

Do you have already a decision on how to write Lebanese language sentences? I would love to introduce my friends (native speakers in Lebanese) into that discussion if possible.

I agree, the current agreement stated by Wikipedia is that Lebanese derives from Arabic, so it should use its alphabet.

At the same time, Lebanese people will never use arabic alphabet to write in lebanese, they will instead write pure literal arabic using of course arabic alphabet.

I guess, I can first gather pair of sentences from english to lebanese in an open-source repository and then come back to tatoeba with a stronger case, supported by native lebanese people. Would that be useful in order to make a decision here?

In the meantime, I can remove my suggestions so that only the arabic alphabet remains on tatoeba. If that's okay for you.

We already had a similar discussion in 2016. The decision was to allow using the Arabic chat alphabet in North Levantine Arabic sentences. See cueyayotl's comment at the time:

We now have the ability to detect right-to-left vs. left-to-right scripts, it just needs to be enabled for each language that requires it. Currently Ottoman Turkish is the only language with that feature, but it won't be hard to add North Levantine Arabic to the list as well.
