People usually don't like infinite scroll because they can't go to the bottom of the page. And not everyone has a fast internet connection.

I'm not really sure if they click the link to see the tags, the logs, and the comments. Corpus Maintainers have been doing a fantastic job but we still need more of them. In my opinion we should build trust because most first time visitors aren't coming back—maybe they aren't doing so because we still don't have a mobile site.

That's why it's called "smart defaults" you show the best option by default.

I know this. But if you trust some non-native speakers you can select the checkbox to show their sentences. Easy, right?

People who are visiting the site for the first time may not know that a sentence was added by a non-native speaker.

Yep, but at least people won't see sentences like these:

— I have two years.
— You want to eat cake? (sometimes I make this mistake).

bill bill March 17, 2016 March 17, 2016 at 4:15:01 PM UTC link دائمکڑی

We could use smart defaults and only display sentences owned by native speakers on the search results, and if the user wants to see sentences owned by non-native speakers he or she just need to select a checkbox.

I agree with you, but native speakers usually correct their sentences and some non-native speakers don't even know that their sentence is incorrect.

And I know a lot of contributors aren't correcting their sentences, but I think we can easily solve this.

Why is the rating system hidden by default?

Edit: @Ricardo14 Thank you.

I'm really worried about this. If I'm a first time visitor and the first thing I see is a wrong sentence, you bet I won't come back.

I didn't know that we have one. ):

I agree with you, Trang. Actually, I was talking about people who add sentences in the language they're learning. Several students will come across those wrongs sentences and think that the site isn't trustworthy, or worse they don't even will notice that the sentence is incorrect.

I'm going to read the message you sent me.

P.S. I also added some sentences in English a few months ago.

I wonder why you guys allow this...

They could at least add those sentences on the dev site or use sites such as lang-8 and italki.

That's very useful. Thanks a lot, sharptoothed.

Welcome to Tatoeba, QTM!

No, you don't need to leave comments on your sentences.

bill bill March 13, 2016 March 13, 2016 at 5:22:32 AM UTC link دائمکڑی

Yes, it is. I'm using chrome to send you this comment.

How to solve this problem temporarily:

• Go to the settings page — https://tatoeba.org/eng/user/settings
• Change the number of sentences per page to 10.
