When I read this sentence my first impression was it means something like "I don't want your sympathy", but it was translated into Russian and French as "Give me/Show me your sympathy", and I have no idea what the Japanese sentence mean, so could someone please clarify the meaning of "Spare me the sympathy".
A modern English speaker would more likely use the following, I think.
