1) Since the English says 'asking' rather than 'ask', it's better to put a 緊 after 問 to emphasise the continuity of the action.

2) 意思 is usually taken to mean meaning of tangible things, like definitions of words. For things like 生命, a better word would be 意義.

3) The current sentence structure is a bit cumbersome - 你仲問緊自己生命嘅意義呀 (without the 係咩嘢) means just the same thing. If you don't mind the translation being too liberal, you can further simplify the sentence into something like this: 你仲喺度諗緊生命嘅意義呀？

By the way, you may know this already, but the 呀 at the end should be pronounced as aa4 instead of aa3 :-)

Though I've never knew when to use which one. ^^"

I'm not sure if that's a very good way of distinguishing the two. It's actually a lot simpler. When you remove an aa3 from a question, it would still be a question; but when you remove an aa4 from a question, it would be transformed into a statement.

For example,

你今朝有冇食早餐呀 (aa3)？
(Did you have breakfast this morning?)
Remove the aa3 → 你今朝有冇食早餐？
It still means 'Did you have breakfast this morning?'

你今朝冇食早餐呀 (aa4)？
(You didn't have breakfast this morning?)
Remove the aa4 → 你今朝冇食早餐。
The meaning becomes 'You didn't have breakfast this morning.'

The same thing applies to '你仲喺度諗緊生命嘅意義呀？'. If you remove the final 呀, the sentence would be transformed into a statement:

你仲喺度諗緊生命嘅意義。
(You are still thinking about the meaning of life.)

Therefore, you can be sure that the 呀 is pronounced as aa4. As simple as that ;-) !
