English is incorrect. Should be "These shirts are the same. They are the same colour."
Hmmm... I wouldn't be sure if equal is incorrect. According to http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/equal especially point 2 I think it is acceptable.
I know it can sound bizarre. Maybe some native could check this?

This sentence is technically correct (and it sounds fine to me), however it looks like a rather literal translation of the Spanish sentence.
I would say that the shirts are "the same", or "identical".
