Хм, а точно перепрыгнуть? Кажется, что quite a jump - цельное выражение, говорящее о том, что ручей немаленький.

Какой-то натянутый перевод получается. Я не могу представить себе ситуацию, где бы так сказали. Английский вариант мог бы сказать капитан корабля, например. Или лодочник :-)

Ну, по мне так вполне нормальный перевод. А лодочники и капитаны вряд ли на ручьи размениваются. :-)
