> ouais, donc c'est la merde
soit.

http://tatoeba.org/chi/sentences/show/3385 (I mean it) we should have done that before.

this is not done yet because doing this is too slow, but something like that will be on the new version (it's one of the major reasons we're going to swithc to our own database server , with the "graph" problem)

I'm not really sure about this (will ask confirmation to friends) but it seems to be that in Chinese newspaper etc. they actually translate Japanese name, so that's the reason why I think we can't state a rule about this on Tatoeba.

at least I use it everyday for my Chinese/English study or when I'm facing text in Esperanto (as google translate does not support it).
After I do agree that sometimes when translating some obscure sentences one can ask to himself "will someone ever read this ?". But I think, sure the more obscure, with rare vocabulary a sentence is, the less chance it has to be found by someone, but on the other hand the more chance it has to be usefull, because it's with "obscure" vocabulary etc. that most of language learner will need something more than a dictionnary, i.e Tatoeba.

\o/ super

for the moment you can access it directly with this
http://tatoeba.org/sentence_com...your_username]
for example for your it will be
http://tatoeba.org/sentence_com...s_of_user/ondo

The user page has been slighty changed recently and this link has been accidentaly dropped, it will reappear soon:)

hmmm strange, I will try to ask the guys of sphinx (the system we're using) (though i'm building my own one right now to replace it^^) I think I know why but i'm not sure

or under linux you can do this
grep 重な sentences.cvs | grep -v 重な

but what you said is basically what is produced by "dot", an open source software when you ask for output in SVG, but anyway tomorow I will try to find back this JS library.

Yep but I don't plan to use flash, I'm quite a "web standard" nazi, It's a bit late where I am right now so I will try to find them tomorow, but I do remember to have some monthes ago a javascript library to handle this.
For duplication, thanks to the help of a friend who quite master this field, we've built a custom graph database server that will handle this automatically and in real time, so soon duplicate will be no more a problem :)

in fact it should not be a "lot" of coding, as there's already some xml like "language" for graph than can be after converted into SVG, the problem after is support from all browsers (does someone said IE-6/7/8 :p)

answer: because I haven't found the time to code it yet :) But I do agree it will be usefull :)

I'm on the way to release a project I've started last month to build a tatoeba-like dictionnary of word (well with some difference but I think you get the idea) so it would be possible (and that's why I'm making it anyway:p) to connect both, so tatoeba will be able to check if the words are present on the database of this project.

no for this the new version will introduce the possibility to have any kind of links, so far all "link" are "translation link", so it will be possible to have "not a translation of" link.
And may be make this links only visible on the sentence page (not when it's just inside a "block" (such as "random sentence" , search result etc) and in a "not translation of" part

sometimes people purposely look for other mistakes because as tatoeba is open to everyone, so I know for myself, as a French native, i purposely check every single contribution in French. I think one has to accept that even as a native we are likely to make mistakes due to inattention, read to fast the sentence we're translating etc.
So don't get it wrong when people post a comment with a correction, the goal of tatoeba is to have the largest database of natural AND correct sentences. So personnaly when people post a comment on my French sentences to point out a mistakes, I don't think their arrogant, trying to say "hey my French is better than your", but rather share the same goal has me, which is to have the best quality possible. So I think it's also arrogant to not accept than oneself can make mistakes, I agree that sometimes I feel a little bad to get my sentences in French corrected by a non-french native, but well the goal of tatoeba is not to show off my skills, so we all have to accept modestly this. And anyway as this end you're the only one allowed to change your entences (apart moderators but as soon as you're an active user, even moderators will not take the liberty to change them). So it's up to you to discuss with the one who commented on your sentences if you think your sentences is already correct. Not answering is also a proof of being arrogant to me.
