If you don't like the new Spanish flag here is an easy way to change it back (thanks to Trang):

1) Open https://userstyles.org/styles/1...-language-icon
and click to install Stylish

http://i.imgur.com/bGPeXOl.png?1

2) Open this page again and install the style
http://i.imgur.com/K1yDaAF.png?1

3) That's what we finally should see
http://i.imgur.com/pgIhUFp.png?1

Tested on Google Chrome but should also work for Opera.

Se debe a mi decisión de enfocarme más en otros idiomas. Aparte el corpus está en buenas manos.

Quiero pedir a los miembros hispanohablantes que adopten las frases que una vez agregué. Gracias.

Well, that's what I did. That's what the wall is designed for :)

@Ricardo14

When it comes to something people are used to I think we should have more time and discussions before we make the change. Maybe it could be tested on the http://dev.tatoeba.org first. I'm quite sure that a great deal of people don't use github, can't comment there and don't even know how to do it. Yes I have seen sabretou's request but I didn't think it was going to be implemented so early. And I didn't follow all comments on the issue on github, of course.

@cueyayotl
The flag that was posted on the wall by sabretou was quite different, it was yellow bright. Anyway, not everyone uses github. I don't even have an account there.

@Ricardo14
I always appreciated your contribution and efforts and I don't have anything against you. I just left this comment because I do translate from Spanish and I found this change undesireble. Maybe other people think it's ok, I don't mind.

I think that other people had the right to see what flag would be used instead of the former since we're all used to it.

Now I do have troubles when I see Ladin and Spanish translations together

I don't really like the new Spanish flag. I think that now it's quite similar with Ladino.

Maybe we could have some tool to merge two groups of tags that mean the same thing, for example we could merge 'impolite' and 'not polite'

https://tatoeba.org/eng/tags/sh...es_with_tag/84
https://tatoeba.org/eng/tags/sh..._with_tag/5607

This way, it would be useful to have just one tag instead of two. But I don't think we should tell the users how to tag their sentences.

I think it doesn't matter since we can search through all the tags. For example, searching for "Agatha" will show both by Agatha Christie (6) and Agatha Christie (1)

https://tatoeba.org/eng/tags/view_all/Agatha

Some Levantine Arabic sentences are written in Latin script like #3493799
I think they should be changed although many young people write this way in Internet and in text messages.

Why not forbid the new users to translate from the language they didn't mention in their settings? Maybe it would help them to understand how the system works. It could be even a temporal restriction. For example, first two weeks they are meeting with the site and we just prevent them from making mistakes.

How about automatic capitalization of the first letter for new sentences in the languages that have capital letters? It would be easy to code, I think but it would save a lot of time for corpus mantainers since there will be no need to change them.

Yes, it's Russian.

I've checked all the Erzy sentences and found some of mine that I'd added as Russian sentences. There must have been some error with new language detector. Maybe there are some other Russian sentences with a wrong flag since we were lack of ~2000 Russian sentences.

odexed odexed October 19, 2015, October 19, 2015 aanpast October 19, 2015 at 2:13:46 AM UTC, October 19, 2015 at 2:17:30 AM UTC aanpast link Permalink

Thank you, it will be taken care of. I guess that's why the number of Russian sentences has been reduced recently.
