Yes, the sentences are effectively identical. I think we can drop this one (#164262). I will remove it from the ones being used for examples.

Changing it to this is a good idea. It gives us both the kanji and 亡くなりました as a comparison to the other one.

Fine with me. Not sure I'd index it - we already have 67 sentences using 癌, 131 using 亡くなる and 146 using 叔父.
