>Is there a way to mass-tag all his sentences automatically?

This was already requested some years ago.

https://github.com/Tatoeba/tatoeba2/issues/785

Such a feature would also be useful for proofreading. It would boost the usage of the OK tag, I think.

I find this site useful for example sentences.

http://sentencedict.com/

Unfortunately, it's monolingual.

> I also look forward to seeing Turkish become Tatoeba's first language

Thanks for your good wishes. Unfortunately, our big guns aren't very active recently. Turkish just got passed by Russian today. But who knows what the future holds? :-)

Btw, I congratulate the Russian community for their effort.

>Tatoeba's search results are currently limited to 1000 results. What if someone wanted to see more than 1000 sentences in the results?

Actually, it's not that important. If you set sorting option to random, 1000 random sentences are generated, which is sufficient for translating or studying, I think.

I don't think it's possible to get more than 1000 results via search. It would increase the server load a lot. You need to work on the database offline with a script, if you want to get all results at once.

I tried to extract Arabic-Berber sentence pairs from the database.

http://www.mediafire.com/file/w...wh/ber-ara.zip

There are currently 1870 pairs. Unfortunately, the script I use didn't put full stops to Arabic sentences correctly. They're at the beginning of sentences.

Btw, I want to congratulate you and MessDjaaf. The latest statistics show that Berber has the highest growth. And your FB group has reached almost 100 members. You guys are doing a great job. Keep up the good work.

** Suggestion: Limited Collaborative Lists **

Currently, in terms of adding and removing sentences, lists are either fully personal or fully collaborative (open to everyone). I think it would be nice if there were a third option, allowing private collaborations. This way, list creators could permit particular users to add sentences to their particular lists. It would allow a group of users to work on a list/subject together, without worrying that their work might get sabotaged or messed (that's unfortunately the case with fully collaborative lists).

Please consider it.

Wow, looks like it's a highly contagious word. :-)

The sentences have more similarities, though.

"Zsebemben sok kicsi alma van."
"Cebimde çok küçük elma var."

I think the icon for Old Turkish is a bit low contrast. It's actually a stone inscription. I liked its authenticity, though, but its visibility isn't so good.

Here's a more visible alternative with the same script.

Please consider.

Edit: I've added another version of the first flag. This one has smaller letter spacing. It might look better when shrinked.

This flag is also popular among the Old Turkish enthusiasts.

http://thefutureofeuropes.wikia...anate_flag.png

We don't exactly know how the real flag of Turkic Khaganate looked like, but we know that their totem was a wolf.

The reason behind turquoise background is that the word turquoise comes from Turk.

First, I like Saladin. His mother was probably a Turk. Although ethnic identity was determined by paternal lineage at that time, that also makes him a Turk and a symbol for Kurdish & Turkish brotherhood.

I would object if PKK's flag were used for the Kurdish language, but it's out of the question. There's no reason to change the flags of Kurdish or Turkish on Tatoeba. They're both official flags.

http://prntscr.com/l29uhr

However, the flag used for Kabyle is problematic. It was created by a separatist organization and has no official status. It clearly divides the Kabyle people, too.

>the Kabyle flag which all the contributors of the Kabyle team have adopted

Sorry, but I find the part 'contributors of the Kabyle team' a bit fishy. I don't think languages other than Kabyle have 'teams' here. People are just individuals. And there are (should be) contributors of the Kabyle *language*, not *team*. People don't have to belong to a team to contribute in or to talk about a language. Actually, this expression reveals that this team thing isn't only linguistic, but also political. I don't think such cult-like political groupings would be in the spirit of Tatoeba.

There's one more thing I want to mention: The Catalan flag. There are two Catalan flags. One is starred (Estelada), the other is non-starred (Senyera). The separatists use the starred one.

http://fortune.com/2015/01/30/s...taxes-economy/

The non-separatists use the non-starred one.

https://news.sky.com/story/huge...elona-11072314

The flag used on Tatoeba is the non-starred one. Otherwise, it would be problematic, too. And I think the same should apply to Kabyle. Supporters of the separatist organization can continue to use its flag on their profiles.

#1 emphasizes Algerian identity. The pattern of #2 can also be used for other Amazigh varieties which is good for a unified Amazigh identity. I think #3 looks too simple.

The MENA region suffers a lot from not only religious extremism, but also micro-nationalism. At the end, only arms dealers and oil companies win.

Demand for cultural rights and fighting for separatism are two different things.
