I've changed the sentence.
鎧(armor)→盾(shield)

The problem was really with the English sentence - it probably should have been "... wore armour to protect ...". You don't usually say that people "wore shields"; you carry shields.
A better approach would have been to leave the Japanese as it was and add a replacement English sentence.

I'll add a new English version, and we can unlink the present one, which matches the Portuguese.

I changed it back and unlinked the English sentence.
