Strangely enough, this sentence has no logs and is shown in "Latest contributions" 7 times:

As suggested, I'm bringing the discussion on the wall. I think clearer guidelines are needed for '@needs native check' tag, because different people understand it differently.

Here're a list of questions that need answers?
1. Who can put this tag? (i.e. owner? anyone?)
2. In what situations should this tag be put? (On any sentence written by non-native? On more-or-less complex sentences? Should a possible mistake be indicated before placing this tag?)
3. Who can check sentence? (Should it definitely be a native speaker, or will any reasonably proficent speaker do? What about Latin?)
4. What is the difference between @needs native check and @check?

>> However, I think it *is* a valid sentence,
>> more or less, isn't it?
Well, the Russian sentence linked says "Om mani padme khum" in Cyrillic script... I don't know if it is a sentence but it's hardly Russian.

Do we really need 'translations' of Sanskrit mantras like this:
http://tatoeba.org/sentences/show/2167097
?

Hello! If you have any questions, you can just ask here, or in the comments to the sentences.

Добрый день! Если у Вас будут вопросы, можете задать их прямо здесь или в комментариях к предложениям.

It's sad that we don't have public discussions anymore.

This post is a nice demonstration of what is wrong with your attitude. :)

Thanks. But there are two problems with comments:
1. They are not easily exportable, so they can only be used on Tatoeba,
2. Even if someone collected all the comments by scraping the website, it is unclear if it is legal to export and re-use them. Terms of use speak about granting right to 'contributions', but comments don’t appear in the logs and it’s not really clear if they are contributions or not.

It’s not a matter of crime. You did no crimes, I’m really grateful to you for your contibutions.

The problem is that you seem to discourage a lot of people from participating. I understand that it’s impossible to keep everyone happy, but I didn’t know the list was so big until liori said it:

> u2fs, pandark, qdii, Pharamp,
> FeudRenais, alphafour, Swift, Shiawase

Liori has convinced me, so I've deleted my previous vote.

I think you can create a list in Tatoeba and then export it to Mnemosyne or Anki.

The 'traditional' distiction is like this:
@check = something may be wrong with this sentence (someone reported it, but wasn't sure),
@NNC = the sentence was written by a non-native speaker who is not confident in his/her skills,

OK doesn't need @, because @ means 'something needs to be done with this sentence' (e.g. @delete, @check, @translation check, anything), while OK is exactly the opposite.

[RUS] В данный момент на сайте нет поддержки кыргызского языка. Пока что добавляйте кыргызские предложения с любым флагом — потом, когда кыргызский язык добавят, это будет исправлено.

[ENG] Currently, there is no support for Kyrgyz language. You can add Kyrgyz sentences with any flag now — later, when Kyrgyz will be added, this will be fixed.

[ENG] I’d be really glad if Tatoeba had Tajik examples! I think it’s a very interesting lanuage.

Currently, to add a Tajik sentence, you can add it with _any_ flag, and then click on the green arrow to the left of the sentence, and then click on the button “Add to the list” (the third button above the sentence), select Tajik (you can press T key to find it easier) and then press the OK button. All Tajik sentences that are currently in the database can be seen here: http://tatoeba.org/sentences_lists/show/773 . The flag that Tajik sentences have currently is not important: when Tajik is added, all the sentences from the list “Tajik” will have the correct flag.

I think we shouldn't censor Tatoeba's contents.

«The _mathematical_ theory of formal languages defines a language as a set of sentences. That is, every sentence is either grammatical or ungrammatical; there is no need for probability in this framework. But natural languages are not like that. A _scientific_ theory of natural languages must account for the many phrases and sentences which leave a native speaker uncertain about their grammaticality (see Chris Manning's article and its discussion of the phrase "as least as"), and there are phrases which some speakers find perfectly grammatical, others perfectly ungrammatical, and still others will flip-flop from one occasion to the next». (Peter Norvig, http://norvig.com/chomsky.html )

I think all the users should be able to vote on the best option. Probably the user’s votes should have more weigh, the more sentences user has (e.g., his vote is multiplied by the cubic root of the number of his sentences).
