He hecho frases con bajel, remolino, avidez, bayoneta y molinero. Con barandal y hogaño no puedo porque son palabras que nunca he oído.

Yo siempre he visto "bajel" con J, ¿o es otra palabra cuyo significado desconozco?

yes, it's way more comfortable to click on the links without having to worry about unlinking the sentence :) Thanks Trang!

I just noticed it doesn't just happen on the search bar, it happens in all the places where there is a language list, they appear empty...

Bug: in the Spanish interface of Tatoeba I can't use the search bar, when clicking on the language lists, the languages don't appear... that doesn't happen when I try to search for a word in the English interface, though...

I completely agree with the two first points, but why should only the sentences with translations in 2 or more languages be displayed?

Same here, it seems each day the sentence I get redirected to changes ...

But "old orthography" in Spanish is not wrong, and most of the texts you'll find that are more than 4 years old will be written following this "old orthography" basis, it's not the same as having a sentence that has never been correct like in this tag...

Shishir Shishir June 29, 2014 June 29, 2014 at 11:30:08 AM UTC link Permalink

Do you think this kind of sentences should be in Tatoeba?

http://tatoeba.org/spa/tags/sho..._with_tag/1948

I mean, if someone is learning this language but doesn't speak German, he won't get the joke and think it's correct, since the translations are correct. I know there's this "fake latin" tag, but if he downloaded all the sentences, the tags won't get downloaded... So... do you really think Tatoeba is the right place for that?

Merci pour tout ce que tu as fait pour Tatoeba, Sysko :)

Thank you! I used to know a bit of Serbian, but now I'd better refresh it and then I might take advantage of your generous proposal :)

>If you have someone who's willing to check your work they could just as well simply translate the sentence …

Not if they don't speak the language of the original sentence ...

>But creating some sort of a culture where people can add poor data to the corpus is inviting shoddy work and harms the project.

Completely agree, that's why I insist on first finding a native speaker willing to correct you and only then add the sentences.

Shishir Shishir May 1, 2014 May 1, 2014 at 9:48:55 PM UTC link Permalink

But then all the native speakers would have to evaluate all the sentences and that would take a lifetime... As always, I speak about the situation of my native language: Spanish is spoken in several countries, and in each country it has its peculiarities and expressions that sound unnatural or weird to the others, so in order to make sure the sentences said in each country get at least one good mark, at least a native speaker from that country will have to evaluate it.

Shishir Shishir May 1, 2014 May 1, 2014 at 9:31:39 PM UTC link Permalink

I'd add those Finnish sentences with not-so-common vocabulary but either not translate them or make sure a native English speaker has a look at the translations to see if they're correct and natural.

in the first there are links that are not registered (all those of the Russian sentences).
I don't know what was wrong with the Russian sentences, but they appear as some kind of phantom sentences...
