I don't know which case you're talking about, but I agree that CMs should always make a comment and wait for the required period before making a change.

The idea of "owning" one's contributions is sound. No doubt provision must be made for "abandoned" contributions and bad actors; but an abiding respect for contributors' "property rights" is a solid foundation it would be folly to permit tampering with.

Temptations are always allied to power. Organizations that grant powers need policies and programs that keep alertness to temptation in the forefront of the minds of the powerful, provide fora for the discussion of temptation, and offer support for its resistence. Powerful individuals unconscious of temptation and resistance are probably unsuited to their responsibilities.

Well-known means should exist for the reporting of suspected improprieties, discussion of cases, and--when necessary--withdrawal of powers.

These are virtues for mature organizations, but even young organizations should plan for their development: failure to do so risks schism; and the beautiful idea of Tatoeba deserves better.
