It isn't a sentence I'd use myself.

@blay_paul: It may be ambiguous, but I don't find it confusing. An alcoholic stating that he hasn't had a single drop for eight years is usually understood to not having had any.
@CK: I didn't recognise this as an archaic, but passable sentence. Had I, I wouldn't have changed it. It is, indeed, Tatoeba policy to submit alternatives, rather than change acceptable sentences.
I didn't like this sentence terribly much either, hence I didn't adopt it. Please feel free to change it and add your own translations. Should you add archaic versions, just remember to tag them as such, in particular if they're linked to sentences using modern speech.
