I noticed a change in the copy-and-pasting.
I wonder if this was an intentional change.

Before, when we copied translations, we got the 3-letter code for the language.

See this comment for an example.

https://tatoeba.org/eng/sentenc...omment-1158254

Now, we don't.

See this comment for an example.

https://tatoeba.org/eng/sentenc...omment-1160733

I think having the 3-letter code was useful, especially when multiple languages were involved, and when viewing in the comments stream, rather than on each individual page.

You can find existing sentences with this kind of search.

Search for sentences with these tags, limited to sentences linked to French.

hotel, travel, restaurant, border crossing, immigration

You will need to search for each tag individually since our search engine doesn't use the "or" operator for tags.

** 10 English Words Per Day **

The 10 words are roughly in the order of frequency of use, based on the NGSL, NAWL and TSL. I divided the words into 10 groups by level and included one word from each of those levels every day for 366 days.

This page changes at 0:00 UTC every day.

Perhaps you may want to bookmark this page, or copy-and-paste the link into your profile, and visit it every day for suggested searches.

I think what we are doing is rating sentences on a 2-value scale, OK or not OK, with the 3rd option being "unsure" which is like "undecided" on an opinion poll.

define:rate
https://www.google.com/search?q=define%3Arate
* assign a standard or value to (something) according to a particular scale.

define:review
https://www.google.com/search?q=define%3Areview
* assess (something) formally with the intention of instituting change if necessary.
* write a critical appraisal of (a book, play, film, etc.) for publication in a newspaper or magazine.

define:rating
https://www.google.com/search?q=define%3Arating
* a classification or ranking of someone or something based on a comparative assessment of their quality, standard, or performance.

Some more brainstorming ideas.

quality
correctness
judgment
accuracy
appraisal
evaluation
good-or-not
proofreading (TRANG's idea)

My preference would be "rating", since I might say "I rated it OK" or "I gave it an OK rating."
I wouldn't say "I reviewed it OK", "I proofread it OK" or "I gave it an OK proofreading."

The word "review" could also be used for leaving comments on apps and products, so this word would have the same problem that TRANG mentioned above for "rating."

Personally, I only use the "OK" rating to let members know that the sentence is OK and ignore the other two ratings.

The "not OK" rating is something I don't use, since if something isn't OK, it might become so after leaving a comment.

There is a possibility that some members would not rate a grammatically-correct and natural-sounding sentence OK if the sentence was not factually correct or if they felt that the sentence was vulgar, pornographic, archaic, old-fashioned or otherwise not appropriate for their own use. I'm not sure this is really a problem since that's what professional proofreaders do.

I wonder if the Tatoeba Project needs someone or several people to maintain a history of milestones.

http://bit.ly/tatoebahistory

I started this page a while ago when I needed to know some of this information. I compiled most of it from TRANG's blog posts.

Perhaps some of this page could be used to start a wiki page that could be added to from time to time to document the progress of the project.

Maybe TRANG herself would want to do this, or already has a record that could be made more visible. Or, maybe one or two members could work on this together.

I think I'd be interested in seeing this done, but I don't really want to spend the time doing this myself.
