And there is a Persian detection bug.

Is Tatoeba uses the Google Translate API for auto-detection?

It seems like Gtranslate API.

Some Persian sentences are in "unknown" (because Google detects them as Pashto), and some are in "Urdu" (Because Google detects them as Urdu).

I think you will make an auto-detection system for Tatoeba.

And the dictionary! A dictionary for Tatoeba is a very good idea. We will able to help the people to translate sentences. It will be an user-contributed and detailed dictionary and it will appear on the "Translate" form. Even this dictionary has 83 languages and Unknown until you add new languages.

but not unified multiple

x *remove/eliminate/delete

v *remove
*eliminate
*delete

Is it a good idea?

Kind regards,
boracasli.

I'm beginner in Azeri but proffessional in grammar.

example azeri:

aze: Yaxınlarda qanlı bir hücum olub.
tur: Yakınlarda kanlı bir saldırı oldu.
eng: A bloody attack has occured nearby.

aze: Mən kəllə paça şorbası yəyirəm.
tur: Ben kelle paça çorbası yiyorum.
eng: I'm eating kelle pacha soup.

aze: Televiziyada yaxşı bir proğram yox idi.
tur: Televizyonda iyi bir program yoktu.
eng: There isn't a good program on TV.

aze: Yeni ilə girəli az vaxt olub.
tur: Yeni yıla gireli az zaman oldu.
eng: A few time passed since we enter to the new year.

aze: 2008 ilində Rusiya Gürcüstana müharibə açıb.
tur: 2008 yılında Rusya Gürcistan'a savaş açtı.
eng: In year 2008, Russia declared war against Georgia.

They can be added by an user, they're still stay as the first until an user from Azerbaijan joins to Tatoeba. I'm behaving very good, you know.

Do not consider "writing azeri translations as a comment" as a bad behaviour.

kind regards, best wishes and thanks,
boracasli.

If I want to make a note about how I translate a sentence, should I comment on the sentence in the source language, or the sentence in the target language?

Until we get the new database, I would suggest commenting on the sentence you've just added, rather than the (source) sentence you're translating.

Let me revise that a bit. In the case where one sentence is more ambiguous, it would be better to leave the comment on that sentence, guiding the user to the right translation (as there may be multiple).

sysko sysko 11 იანვარი, 2011 11 იანვარი, 2011, 10:51:44 UTC flag Report link Permalink

hard question, i would say on the target language and precising for which source language i'm talking, or even the id of the source sentence, as after we don't know if other translation will be added, but there's no "best answer" i think. As the best things would be able to comment the translation link (which would be possible in the new version, again I'm just able to say that this last months ^^)

Deleted the sentences since resubmitting them with proper formatting and language identifier would take less time than fixing this user's submission, and sent the user a constructive message.

I wondered why the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...layer_embedded doesnt have multilingual subtitles.

That's why I've added the english subtitles as a list of 32 "sentences": http://tatoeba.org/eng/sentences_lists/show/329

I hope I havent missed the translation of the video text anywhere. And maybe it should be moved to launchpad, but for now i hope this will encourage the addition of multilingual subtitles to the really cool video.

You're awesome!! :D

To be honest I should have translated the subtitles into French when I did the video. But I guess it was already so much work for me to create this video, and other priorities came up and I sort of left it that way...

And I just noticed that the video was viewed 10,000+ times.

Hello Trang!
I've started editing a copy of your prezi file and i've replaced the english texts with german ones.
You can have a look at it here:
http://prezi.com/jkptitff3d8i/t...ungsvideo-deu/

I'll send you, and anyone who wants to contribute, an invitation for editing. Just reply to this message and ill write you a PM with the key URL.

Nice :D Thanks for translating the content of the presentation too!

For now I have added your Prezi link in the description of the video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac9SmJuwHqk).

Making a new video with the German text will take some time because there is no automated way to convert the prezi into a video. For the English version, I had to screencast and do a lot of video editing (to time it properly with the voice, among other things).

Prezi is really not the optimal tool, but I had chosen it because it was the only tool I knew which had these nice transitions and allowed to create something quickly ^^

ive tried to add the sketches that youve added in afterwards (that are not inside the prezi) to the prezi as well, so we would need to only record the translated prezi and add the voice. no more video editing, thats what i want to say.

maybe you could hand to me the image files so i could integrate a higher quality image into the german prezi. You can also have a look at my prezi to see what i mean with the above mentioned.

Ich habe soeben die deutsche Übersetzung des Tatoeba Einleitungsvideos fertiggestellt. Ich würde alle deutschsprachigen Tatoebaner bitten, einen kurzen Blick darauf zu werfen (link siehe oben), bevor ich sie Trang anvertraue um sie dem Video auf Youtube als Untertitel hinzuzufügen.

Iv'e just completed the german translation of the Tatoeba introduction video and I would ask all german speaking Tatoebans to check my translations before I hand them to Trang to add to the Tatoeba introduction video as subtitles.

Also I came up with the idea to use the audio feature to translate the spoken text of the video and maybe also the grafic text of the video could be translated. Therefore, if you agree, i would ask you, Trang, to please give me the source for the video at prezi.com so i can translate it (unless you want to do this yourself).

We also already have a lot of other translations into e.g. spanish, italian, rusian, lojban(!) etc., please Tatoebans out there help to continue this run so we can soon proudly present Tatoeba in an appropriate (multilingual) way.

Also I found a nice video on english language that mentions Tatoeba: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oG4L4KGcugA

Somehow, when I write original sentences (not translations), they are getting posted twice in many cases. What is going on and is there any way to prevent it?

(I have tagged them with "@delete" in case any moderator wants to go through and delete them.)

Okay, I think this is because you press "Enter" twice while it's saving. I've corrected the Javascript so you can clear your cache (with a little Ctrl+F5 if you're using Firefox) to make sure your browser is using the latest Javascript file, and normally it shouldn't happen again :)

If it does happen again though, well I would need more details on what you are doing to manage to save twice the same sentence.

This has happened to me again! I think there must be some bug in Tatoeba. I would really appreciate some suggestions for how to get around this so it doesn't happen any more. I have a feeling it's a JavaScript thing. The weird thing is it doesn't always happen.

(Again, I have tagged them with "@delete", feel free to delete them.)
