> I know that it is illegal in Belarus to connect

No, it's not the case, of course!
The Internet is available in Belarus, it's only just a little slow, because KGB agents are busy monitoring the traffic in order to protect us from false information. ;)
> Do you have a special license for that
> from your beloved eternal leader
> Alexander Lukashenko?
Of course I do! ;)
But unfortunately he is not eternal. But we all hope his son Kolya will continue his father's work! xD

BTW, any chance to make countries translatable?

Any chance to change "Taiwan, province of China" in the country list to something more neutral?

> There are also FROM tags to consider [from La Mort et le Bûcheron].
All non-English FROM tags were converted to English in the past. I'm not sure this is a good idea, but probably we should stick to it?..

I speak Russian and Ukrainian with my parents, Russian with most people around me; I've learnt Belarusian at school and don't use it much.

BTW, for some reason in the exported data there is a mismatch between Esperanto and French names: Aŭstralio = Uruguay, ..., Filipinoj = Australie.

CK was so kind to export the data. It's not internactive but very interesting nevertheless.
Thank you!

I seriuosly doubt it's better than my K-Meleon. And I'm also not very enthusiastic about Google software...
But I thought I may give it a try.
And guess what? I haven't found a way to download it!
This page:
http://www.chromium.org/getting...nload-chromium
suggests two links:
a) http://download-chromium.appspot.com/ doesn't have a download link (it seems to be generated with a JavaScript that doesn't work in my K-Meleon -_-"),
b) http://commondatastorage.google...ots/index.html has only the header and no actual links.
(Downloading Chrome instead of Chromium is not an option: AFAIK it has no way to turn auto-update off.)
BTW my current computer is likely to be worse than your 6-year old laptop. It has 128 Mb RAM. :)

«Votre navigateur n'est pas compatible avec certaines des fonctionnalités de Google Documents». :(
Can anyone export this file to some downloadable format?
(Upgrading my browser means buying a new computer, which is not an option.)

I've just tried to explain why my profile doesn't mention my native language. :)
Thanks for your statistics, it is useful.

In fact, the concept "native speaker" is not universal.
"Native speaker" is usally translated as "носитель языка" into Russian (Bel. носьбіт мовы, Ukr. носій мови), but "носитель языка" is in fact a broader term that includes everyone who speaks the language well, regardless of their mother tongue.

> bel / 1 / 161 / 1 (Demetrius)
At home, I speak Russian and Ukrainian. On the everyday basis, I speak Russian. I've learnt Belarusian at school.

They were mass-added. Probably tulio had a list of translated sentences that included some useless entries. He sent that list to sysko for import without checking, so...

Of course it is possible.
But currently languages are not added if there are no speakers willing to contribute.
So you have to find a Maltese speaker. ^^"
The details about adding a language can be found in the FAQ: http://tatoeba.org/rus/faq#new-language

> Does a contributor have the right to have a sentence

Not really. :P
Search for "is slandering me": http://tatoeba.org/sentences/se...rom=und&to=und :)

> “I’ m strongly convinced that names of contributors shouldn't appear inside the sentences.”
Why? What's wrong about having a few sentences about boracasli?
What is important is that sentences about boracasli are as rare as they are in real texts. I.e. we shouldn't add every other sentence about him.
> If the aim is building a corpus this doesn't look like

Can you please explain in what way it makes the corpus ridiculous?
> We should discuss how to handle this issue.
sacredceltic suggested replacing all personal references with placeholders of some sort. If this were implemented, we could also replace nicknames.
But I'm personally not sure if this is worth implementing, since Tatoeba aims at having sentences 'as raw as possible', and this will add another layer of pre-processing.

I'm for Alexmarcelo.

I don't mind my status being taken away. I don't have much time to dedicate to Tatoeba anyway. :)
