It's wonderful that you wish to contribute to the Tatoeba project. What works best is if you mostly contribute sentences in your native language, the one you are most familiar with. I see by your profile that your native language is Russian and that you understand English well and Italian to a lesser degree. Tatoeba is therefore best served if you mostly contribute Russian-language sentences, which I see that you are doing (67 of your current 127 sentences are Russian, 19 are Spanish, 18 are Italian, 14 are English and 9 are Polish.)

At your request, I have offered suggestions for improving four of your English sentences — #3097659, #3099238, #3101207, #3103138. The other ten, in fact, seem like fine, natural English to me.

Likely, your Russian sentences are also fine, unless you perhaps misspelled something, for example. I don't speak Italian, Spanish or Polish, but other Tatoeba contributors who are fluent in one of these might like to take a look and see if any of them could be improved:

Because you understand some Italian and Spanish, and are nearly fluent in English, you are ideally placed to help translate sentences from those languages, and perhaps Polish, into Russian. Currently Tatoeba has over 545,000 English sentences, 337,000 Italian ones, 225,000 Spanish ones and 75,000 Polish ones. If you could help increase the number of Russian sentences from the current 278,000, that would be excellent.

Tatoeba collects sentences and their translations into other languages, which are then used by various open-source projects. You can help by translating from a foreign language you know into your own native language or strongest language, and also by creating natural-sounding sentences in your own native language for others to translate into their native languages.

I wonder if Tatoeba might be expecting a 128 x 128 image and does not correctly process a smaller one. What if you were to redo your image to the full size, or left a 16-pixel wide white or coloured margin on each side to pad the image to 128 pixels?

Even if they are pronounced radically different to each other, my understanding is that the various Chinese dialects use essentially the same form of written communication. There is sometimes a distinction between traditional hanzi and the simplified ones now used in modern China, but as I understand it, the two styles of hanzi are not specifically associated with individual dialects like Mandarin, Cantonese, Xiang, Min, Wu, etc.

Hello, #kimvtaedomo, and thanks for your enthusiasm and for your wanting to contribute to Tatoeba. Unfortunately, the sentences you have contributed until now are marred by various faults which will require correction before those sentences can be useful to others.

The English sentences you have created use non-standard grammar and syntax, and they sound strange to native speakers of English. Tatoeba wants to help foreign learners like yourself to improve their English, but they can only do this when they see examples of well-formed, correct English. Similarly, if we are helping a native English or French speaker to learn Tagalog, it will be useless if the Tagalog examples he or she learns from are poorly formed and ungrammatical.

In addition, you have created some apparently Korean sentences, but they are not expressed in the standard Korean alphabet but in some form of transliteration. Again, this is a hindrance to people who are learning Korean.

The best advice is to primarily create sentences in your strongest language. Presumably, for you, that will be Tagalog. If you are learning English and Korean and understand simple sentences in those languages well, please try translating a few of the English and Korean sentences (which you may find at Tatoeba) into your native language (remembering to set the language flag appropriately to Tagalog, Hiligaynon, Chamorro, or whatever your native language is).

Here are a couple of sentences to get you started. See if you can make nice translations of these into your native language. That will be good practice for you and actually be useful to the Tatoeba community. Currently there are over 468,000 English sentences but only 9693 Tagalog sentences.

Notice that sentences must be complete and well-formed (i.e., have a subject noun or pronoun, as well as a predicate verb), and must be styled according to normal conventions (a capital letter on the first word, and a period at the end).

I know that some of this may sound harsh; it is not intended to be. However, the only way for a large, cooperative project like Tatoeba to succeed is by good contributions from many dedicated volunteers who cheerfully follow the few rules and guidelines that the Tatoeba community has established. This is for the good of all. I hope you understand and can guide yourself accordingly.

I think this might be a more difficult challenge than it seems at first. I don't know much about Tibetan, but in common with other Indic scripts like Devanagari, Bengali, etc., the basic Tibetan consonant-plus-inherent-vowel glyph will be modified with vowels other than the inherent 'a'. The printed form will also change when it is preceded or followed by another consonant to form a cluster.

Hello Astimohaska. It's good that you found this site and that you want to work as a contributor. Since your native language is German and you indicate that you're learning Turkish and English at the intermediate to advanced level, the most effective way you can contribute might be to find interesting Turkish and English sentences and try to translate them into good German. This will likely be easier for you than trying to go the other direction by translating from German. Most language learners find that their ability to understand a language that they are studying is at a higher level than their ability to produce correct and grammatical utterances in their target language. I think your question is far too open-ended to get any sort of serious answer. In my opinion, you need to focus on just one specific problem, something like 1) when to use the definite article, the indefinite article or no article at all, or 2) principal parts of strong and weak verbs, 3) prepositions, or 4) subordinate clauses, etc. If your domain is sufficiently narrowly scoped, you should get sentence suggestions that might serve as quite useful examples.
