También en inglés se mantiene actualmente esta doble interpretación para 'by' [CCAE]: 'He would fly home and make it to bed by 2 a.m. or so.' ; 'Jack promised that he'd call by 2 p.m. ' (=más o menos) / 'Bikes must be returned by 2 a.m. or a $100 late fee will be charged.'

Pretend I'm as old as I look.'; 'Humor me a moment.'; 'Humor me, Tom, I'm new here.' (= sea paciente conmigo, permítame, perdóneme).
No sé yo.
The speaker eventually decides on the actual intended meaning, but, as explained earlier, depending on the context, other usages have been extensively documented. Thus, they are feasible and utilized by speakers of English, too.
A few examples follow:
-British National Corpus (BYU-BNC)
71-CGD-W_non_ac_soc_science: 'By 2 p.m. that day she was in a very anxious state ...'
55-ASR-W_non_ac_nat_science: 'By 3 p.m., the explosions were so loud that they were audible 240 kilometres away; by 5 p.m. they were so stupendous that the sound was carrying all over Java.'
2-K1G-W_news_script : 'The clockwork life of Karen Rake is ticking by faster than ever before. Up at 5 a.m., swimming by 6 a.m., breakfast at 8 a.m., school at 9 a.m.'
-Corpus of Contemporary American English (CCAE)
17-2015-NEWS Pittsburgh : 'State police said Parkway East and Parkway West traffic was moving again by 11 a.m.'
27-2014-NEWS WashPost : 'By 11 a.m., when an hour-long tour in Spanish was to begin, perhaps a dozen people had shown up.'
69-2011-SPOK CBS_Early : 'By 11 AM, as I made my way to Gate-2, the planes were being canceled by the hundreds.'
In any case, whenever doubt arises,I have no objection whatsoever, to any of my sentences being linked, relinked or even deleted by any corpus administrator who so deems, without asking for my previous approval. This should facilitate the decision process.

But, do all the sample sentences with 'by' I included in my previous comments maintain that 'deadline' connotation?

There's a mess in the translations.
I started to unlink some of them, but now I wonder why the translations are even more different than could be expected.
It's because arh changed some of his sentences to a period. Then Horus just merged them.

There won't be any harm done, if I go on unlinking the mismatches?
Well, of course the comments are under the wrong sentence now.
Of course no, go ahead.
done
Nice job, thanks.
