"You shouldn't be looking too closely" might work better than "You shouldn't be looking too much." These sentences:
You shouldn't be too picky.
You shouldn't be too careful.
are fine.

I see they are still linked. Either way, even if they don't have exactly the same meaning, ordinary people don't really differentiate between these verbs.
Je vois qu'elles sont encore liées. De toute façon, même si elles n'ont pas strictement le même sens, les gens ordinaires ne font pas trop de différence entre ces verbes.
