
"polo" is the Uyghur word for "rice pilaf". I think a lot of people who have had experience with it prefer to keep calling it "polo" when they speak English, since it's simpler and sounds better than "rice pilaf" or "pilaf", which convey a slightly different meaning.
I'm saying this now, as a warning, so that people don't jump on this sentence and say "hey, you can't use 'polo' like that!"
