Hello everyone!
I have a request regarding the Tatar language. On this website, Tatars write using both the Cyrillic and Latin alphabets. In Russia, Tatars are required to use the Cyrillic alphabet. However, Tatars living in other countries use the Latin alphabet in their written language. I know that on this website, it is possible to translate Tatar sentences written in Cyrillic into Latin, as is done, for example, for the Uzbek language. Therefore, I ask the site administrators to resolve this issue.
For your information, Tatar sentences written in Latin are currently easily translated on the following websites:
https://www.deepl.com/en/translator and https://www.bing.com/translator
There are also romanizers: baltoslav.eu and others.
Sincerely, Shamil (TATAR1).
Google currently easily communicates with Tatar browser users in both Cyrillic and Latin scripts. ChatGPT also speaks and writes Tatar fluently in both Cyrillic and Latin scripts. In my opinion, implementing the necessary Tatar language updates on Tatoeba is entirely feasible. Tatar Tatoeba members can provide translation assistance if needed.
This is a great idea. Translating the Tatar language into Cyrillic and Latin characters is a long-overdue necessity. Incidentally, Google writes and speaks Tatar beautifully, and translates it beautifully. It does this in both Cyrillic and Latin, using Zamanalif-2012.
I also completely agree that Tatar sentences should be duplicated in Cyrillic and Latin.

Fun fact: the prototype version of Tatoeba, called "multilangdict", was registered on the open source platform Sourceforge on August 18th, 2006.

Which makes today the 20th anniversary of the project 🎉
Wow, happy Tatoeba anniversary!!
Happy birthday! I had the date on my calendar and I wanted to post this message today, too. ^^,
Anyway let's celebrate and long live to Tatoeba!

I wonder if it would be possible to run a script that would delete any near-duplicates while keeping any unique sentences, even with names other than Tom.
Ideally, it would prioritize lower sentence numbers, so if a sentence containing "Sami" came before a near duplicate with "Tom" in it, it would delete the "Tom" sentence.
Even more ideally, it would change the names in near duplicates to the ones from the earliest sentence, so that no language's translation would be lost. This would be the hardest part, as sometimes genders and inflectional endings differ.
An AI could probably spin this up pretty quickly (subject to human scrutiny and testing), or it could be manually coded. But an admin would obviously have to run it. It could be tested using a local copy. I'd be happy to attempt to code this, though I can't promise I would finish it. A more experienced coder might be better suited to such a delicate task.
Making a list like Rebalanced English (https://tatoeba.org/zh-tw/sente...ts/show/171182) would be much safer than that. You can't be sure about what should be deleted in other languages besides English.
That's a good point. I wonder, though, if the search algorithm could be tweaked to prioritize lower sentence numbers among near duplicates.

Hey everyone. I am new and I really enjoy this place. I know 6 languages and am happy to be here :)
Hi kaithespanishstrateg! Welcome to Tatoeba! I'm glad you're happy to be here! We'll do everything we can to make you feel truly welcomed!
Welcome to the project.
You can add the languages you know in your profile.
I wish you lots of joy with the translation.
@AlanF_US, some years ago, I mentioned on the wall that not all sentences would be seen among my favourite sentences I had put onto that list.
You reflected to my wall massage then.
I got one sentence now: #10691383. That surely was among the last 4-5 sentences I saved on that list. And the sentence can't be seen.
(Ihad the suspect several times that I saved more sentences, but I didn't know which ones.)
Just reporting that sentence #10691383 is on your list (at least now).

Yes, that's what I see, too. How long after you added it to your list of favorites did you check the list, @maaster? And how did you check it? Did you page through, or did you specify a string of text in the "Search" field? If you searched for a string, what was it?
It's strange because I can't see it.
Try page 39.
I just checked the last sentences on the list.

As a reminder: to report bad behavior, such as spamming, send a private message to TatoebaAdmins rather than posting a note on the Wall.
