Would "Liebe für die Weisheit" also be correct?
I would consider it wrong or at least not quite right. Russian also uses the preposition к here. 🙂
Thank you! I asked, because #1352478 and #2166537 confused me. Und auch #2672520!
Oh, maybe "für" is only used for people?
Nope, #1754706 is used with an inanimate noun.
You have a point there. It doesn’t seem unnatural in those sentences. Maybe the difference is that in those sentences someone receives love (it is for them), while love of wisdom is a different concept. “zu” would also be correct in those sentences. Maybe “zu” is more bookish as goes well with love of wisdom. :-)
#1754706 is also some kind of warm love (for a profession).
What about this sentence?
"Diese Liebe fur die deutsche Sprache habe ich von meinem Großvater geerbt."
"zur deutschen Sprache" looks better here as well?
That is similar to #1754706. „zur deutschen Sprache“ would also be very correct. It seems slightly more elevated. Where does that sentence come from? 🙂
Well, this is my personal fact :-) The sentence itself was suggested by my German teacher after I had struggled for some time to express its meaning.
Thanks for the explanations. Added the #8339324!
