Hello,
how do I connect two sentences? I want to connect sentence number 2147807 to 663668 as one of the direct translations. I cannot find where to do this, there is no tutorial I could find.
Thank you:)
You'll need to have your account set to "advanced contributor" to link sentences yourself. Then, you'll have icons to link sentences.
Meanwhile, I just linked the two sentences you wanted to link.
Edit = you can also follow what Yorwba posted to do that.
Thanks.
Go to #663668 , click the 文A translation icon, select Czech as the translation language, enter the text of #2147807 (you can copy it with the "duplicated sheets of paper" icon and then just paste it) and confirm.
You can also become an advanced contributor, which will allow you to do all of that with a single button click, provided the sentences are already indirectly linked.
Thank you, that makes sense.
To elaborate on Yorwba's first paragraph: this will add a Czech translation of the Russian sentence that is a duplicate of the existing Czech sentence. Tatoeba periodically merges duplicate sentences, including their links. After the next merge occurs, the net effect will be that you've added a link from the existing Russian sentence to the existing Czech sentence.
This technique is mentioned in our documentation (follow the links at the bottom of every page), but not in a way that's easy to find. I'll update the pages and the index.
UPDATE: I updated the documentation.
not quite, new sentences that would be duplicates are merged before they're created
only sentences that are *edited* into becoming duplicates require the periodic merges
You're right. Thanks for the clarification.
