
Does the Japanese match?

I was asking because according to dictionaries 自分勝手 means selfish. To me, trying to get what you want doesn’t mean to be selfish. It’s just one of the possible attitudes of a selfish person. For instance, a selfish person can think about his health before others’, always speak about him/herself… it’s someone who just don’t care about other people. So, couldn’t a sentence like “you’re a selfish guy” better match the Japanese?
