Olá, Lucas! Em português não ficaria melhor dizer "A carne"? Apesar de este artigo não ser usado em inglês, acho que em português faz falta.

Olá, Alexmarcelo! eu pensei nessa possibilidade, mas interpretei a frase como uma constatação genérica, e não como uma afirmação sobre uma situação que se descreve no momento da fala. Foi por isso que optei por omitir o artigo. Mas é claro, se você acha que é melhor acrescentar o "a", vou fazer isso agora mesmo. obrigado e até mais!

Sim, é verdade. Geralmente omitimos o artigo quando queremos generalizar...

Peixe contém fósforo.
Carne é rica em proteína.
Homem é tudo igual.

Só que nesta frase parece que não faz muita diferença, não é mesmo? Quero dizer, permanece o sentido de generalização mesmo com o artigo. Vai de você, pois, decidir! :)
