Is the space necessary in German:
10 % >> 10%

Yes, the space is obligatory, yet often forgotten, because the like is not taught in school (at least I do not recall learning it there). In typesetting, the full space should be replaced by a thin space (as is the same with, for example, abbreviations consisting of several parts: „z. B.“). It is left out altogether in compounds („5%-Klausel“). When putting a space, one should always use a so-called non-breaking space („geschütztes Leerzeichen“, Alt + 255) so as to avoid undesired line breaks.

I didn't know that (I had the feeling, at first, that you are the only native speaker of German who preserves this non-breaking space ;-)). I haven't encountered it in lessons for German or books teaching German, but I guess it's not one of the most important things one learns when engaged in German.

I had the feeling German was like English in this respect. I already know about the non-breaking spaces required in French, so German is similar, so it seems, in this respect.

Zwischen uns dirite, mi kredas, ke ĝuste en via kazo via cerbo estas laborigita je multe pli ol 10 procentoj, do vi ne devas tiom zorgi.

Dum la hor(et)oj, kiam mi intense studas la rusan, ŝajnas al mi, ke eĉ cent procentoj ne sufiĉas kaj мозг кипит. ;-)

Mi parolis pri escepte ekstrema situacio. En la cetera tempo mi uzas eĉ malpli ol 10 %, ĉar multajn taskojn, kiujn en la "malnovaj tempoj" devis plenumi mia cerbo, intertempe transprenis guglo kaj aliaj helpiloj. :-)
