I don't think this concept translates well outside of Japanese. I don't think I ever needed to make study aids for English.
単語帳を作っている人は世界中にいると思いますが。

ですね。useful は若干引っかかりますが。
「意味がない」は「useful でない」よりも強い否定になりますよね。
単語帳 seems to mean flashcards quite often in Japanese. Two-sided things.
'vocabulary list' seems closer to 単語表. Language textbooks have them on every chapter to supply translations to unfamiliar words and phrases.
The list can be used for the same means, though. You cover the translation part and try to recall the translations.
I'd translate 意味ある here as 'worthwhile' or 'worth it', by the way.

Really? 帳 means a book, so it must be a notebook. Flashcards are more often called 単語カード, I believe.
I was basing that on an image search. They have spines like notebooks do but they still look closer to flash cards.
Or maybe that's just the commercial ones the stationery shops try to sell.
