".ii"?
Periods are actually optional. They are simply reminders to the reader for where to pause. But you can actually tell that from the rules of the language, so the periods aren't needed.
In this case, the rule is that any word starting with a vowel requires a pause, whether a period is written or not.
I generally don't use periods except for ".i", just because I think it's easier to read that way.
