I want to see the ocean.
I would translate this as: "I want to see the sea."
I wonder if "ocean" and "sea" are more or less interchangeable in US English.

What do you think?
There is certainly a lot of overlap between "sea" and "ocean" in US English. One might use "ocean" to avoid using "sea" in the same sentence as the homophone "see". I think this link is fine, but I'll add the version with "sea".
Thank you, Alan!
