In linguistics, I'm really interested in "low-level" phonetic realisations, in phonetic acquisition and language acquisition in general.
Languages:
- Hebrew ( Ivrit / עברית ) [native]
- English
[intermediate]
- Polish ( Polski )
- Russian ( Pусский / Russkij )
[ currently-learning ]
- Tigrinya ( ትግርኛ / tgrña )
[basic ]
- Finnish ( Suomi )
- Bulgarian ( Български / Bŭlgarski )
- Dutch ( Nederlands)
- Yiddish ( Jidiš / ייִדיש )
- Mandarin ( 汉语 / Hànyŭ )
- Arabic ( اللغة العربية / al-luɣа al-ʕarabiyya)
I've written a Tigrinya/Amharic/Ge'ez transliteration tool and tooltip:
use / view it :
http://jsfiddle.net/oyd11/Z5Wws/embedded/result/
http://jsfiddle.net/oyd11/Z5Wws/embedded/
or as tool-tip for reading Ge'ez sentences in latinazation:
https://googledrive.com/host/0B...B2ZE0/tst.html
Easy keyboard input that works - provided for free:
* GeezIME ( Windows / Android for now) http://eri-lingual.blogspot.com
LaTeX in Ge'ez : http://www.senamirmir.org ( Plus Java programming book in Amharic :)
I hope this translitaration tool can be integrated into Tatoeba, similar to what's been done with Georgian here
My *Tigrinya* contributions:
I would really appriciate if someone could go-over them, I'm trying to be careful but I've just began learning Tigrinya!
I contribute some Tigrinya sentences from:
* My interaction with Eritreans who help me learning
* a public domain printed Hebrew-Tigrinya phrasebook I have a copy of called "H.E.A.T." (Hebrew-English-Amharic-Tigrinya) - with authors unknown, and another phrase-sheet I have (where the hebrew is completely-off, but the meaning remains clear, the Tigrinya side is verified with a speaker)
* Sentences from some Corpus linguistics papers.
