Hallo Vortarulo,
Only to make sure for myself: does it convey disgust?
Oh. Actually not. Actually it's only for surprise.
Is "Yikes!" for disgust? Would I say "Yikes!" when seing a dead bunny on the road with its intestines and blood spilled all over the place? Then it might be "Iekse!" in German.
Well, "yikes" is used to express fear or shock, sometimes humorously. As in "Yikes, it's cold!"
:-)
Hmm... so "Huch!" (expressing pure surprise) isn't so bad. Another way would be "Oha!" (surprise, and/or if you notice something unexpected, like you realize you forgot your keys).
I guess it's suitable here, then.
My Hebrew seems also somewhat suitable for the English variant.
