これって、dress shirt になっていないから?
もしそうだったら、shirtはワイシャツって訳してもいいような気がするんだけど。ダメなのかな?

Can "shirt" alone mean "dress shirt" in some contexts?

> Can "shirt" alone mean "dress shirt" in some contexts?
Yes.

Here are a couple of examples that also include the word "tie."
[#1910418] Tom took off his tie and started unbuttoning his shirt. (CK) *audio*
[#271981] A blue suit, white shirt and red tie are essential for all male workers. (CM) *audio*
There are times when in Japanese there is one word that can be translated as two words in English,, especially when it's an adjective + noun, that we often don't always use the adjective every time. Two common examples are "younger brother," and "older sister."

@CK Thanks.
