I can't seem to update my profile pic. It is 96x128 in size. No error message shown. It just simply doesn't change the pic on my profile. What gives?

These changes are not always implemented at once.

just click on the "refresh" button of your web browser to refresh the page

No, it doesn't help. I even logged out and logged back in. The profile picture did not get updated nor was there any error message. I don't remember having to wait for hours when I first added my profile pic in February or so this year.

I wonder if Tatoeba might be expecting a 128 x 128 image and does not correctly process a smaller one. What if you were to redo your image to the full size, or left a 16-pixel wide white or coloured margin on each side to pad the image to 128 pixels?

I was trying to look for an FAQ entry about this, but there isn't any. If tatoeba, indeed, expects 128x128 and the user uploaded a pic with a different size, it should at least display an error message to the user.

OK, I modified my profile pic from 96x128 to 128x128 and now it uploaded and refreshed fine.

From my point of view, you had the same profile picture since the beginning of this thread: a beige large entrance with a small black door at the bottom. It’s now 128×128 with a white band at the right. How was your initial profile picture?

My current profile pic is that of a doorway at the İshak Paşa Sarayı in Doğubeyazıt, Turkey. The previous pic showed one of the monolithic heads on Mount Nemrut, Turkey. Looks like once a new profile pic has been uploaded, the new pic will appear next to all my past comments as well.

Yes, the new picture appears to past comments as well.

What browser are you using? How did you refreshed the pages? Clicked on the refresh button, F5, Ctrl-F5? Was your profile picture not updated on your profile page, on your comments, or both?

Like I said in a previous comment, refreshing or logging out/in didn't help because the pic I uploaded was not 128x128. Once I fixed the pic and uploaded it again, it was fine.

Can you answer my other questions?

Which other questions? What was my previous pic? I answered.
Browser? Chrome. It doesn't matter what browser. The problem is the pic size. It must be 128x128 or else it doesn't work.

DostKaplan, we’re not sure the problem is caused by the picture size. This doesn’t explain why I saw your new profile picture *as soon as you posted the first message of this thread*, and why I’ve been able to upload my current profile picture which wasn’t 128×128.

But I’m not trying to argue: who is right or wrong doesn’t matter. I’m just trying to gather enough informations so that we can eventually reproduce and solve the problem. I’d like to know how you tried to refresh the pages (refresh button, F5, Ctrl-F5?). And was your profile picture not being updated on your profile page, on your comments, or both? Thank you!

I have a Macbook Air. I refresh the Chrome browser by clicking on the clockwise arrow icon on the top of the browser. I also logged out and logged back in. I can try to upload another pic now that is not 128x128 and let you know what happens.

My profile pic was not updated EVERYWHERE--on my comments as well as on my profile page.

OK, I just uploaded a new profile pic that is 200x250 pixels in size. I hit the Reload icon on my Chrome browser and I DO see the change now. It was not doing that earlier whether I reloaded the page or logged out and logged back in. <Shrug>

I uploaded yet another pic. It is 300x404 pixels in size. Refreshing the browser shows the new pic. So it's working fine now.
