CK, you seem to be implying from two posts above that it should be singular in the translations, but then your last post you talk about 最も with a qualifier.
If I'm remembering this correctly, in the JLPT, they say something like "1, 2, 3, 4 の中で，最も良い答えを一つ選んでください。”Doesn't this suggest that it just means "most" or "utmost" without explicitly making it singular?
And anyway, does 最も bind with 美しい or 美しい花? If the former, it wouldn't imply a singular thing, but if it's the latter then maybe it does? I would have assumed the former, myself.
個人的には「最も」と聞いたら単数だと理解します。「最も～の一つ」というのは欧文直訳調です。翻訳調を特に好む人以外は、日常的に使うことは稀だと思います。
