Is this correct English?

It is, although it's a little stilted. Basically it works in conversations like this ...
"Who did he kill?" "It was Barbara who Elister killed."

Yes. I was wondering whether I should use 'whom' or 'who'...
I wanted to show that moving words around changes emphasis in Belarusian.

> I was wondering whether I should use 'whom' or 'who'...
This may not be the official answer, but use of 'whom' is basically dying out. Use who all the time and practically nobody will care.

wow and my ear was telling me 'whom' sounded better...

There are rules (although I don't usually remember them).

Anyway, it looks like this is still 'who' even if you're following the rules.

...wait a minute, barbara isn't the one being killed?

> ...wait a minute, barbara isn't the one being killed?
Barbara is the one being killed.

so it depends on the object of 'who'? so if Elister was the one being killed, whom would be correct?

>"Who did he kill?" "It was Barbara who Elister killed."
>Забіла Элістэр Барбару.
Is Elister a he or a she?

> Is Elister a he or a she?
If you assume Barbara is a 'she' (a fairly safe assumption) then Elister must be a he. Alister would be a 'he', and by the look of Google images then Elister is probably a 'he' as well.

Yes, I can see that from the English sentence you can see that Elister is a 'he', but I was asking because from the Belarusian sentence it follows that he is a 'she'. :) So maybe it needs to be changed (although it doesn't matter for the translations).

OK. I'll change Alister to masculine. ^^
