Many of boracasli's English sentences weren't good.

Which are those four organs?

1. brain
2. spinal cord
3. ?
4. ?

Even "spinal cord" isn't likely to be considered an "organ," is it?

Should we really "lean over backwards" to keep sentences contributed by a member who has contributed so many bad sentences, not only with this username, but with others?

Maybe it's time to start cleaning these up and just deleting them.
Remember, there was a reason his account was set to inactive.

I'm in favor of retaining a sentence if (a) it's grammatically correct (or can be corrected with a minor modification) and (b) there are other sentences linked to it. We have to consider the good of the community, which can learn from all the attached sentenced (for instance, I did learn a new thing, about a certain verb and its conjugation, from one of the linked sentences).

If the sentence has logical faults, this can be remedied by adding necessary tags (such as "sci-fi", imaginary sentence or whatever tag there is for such cases).

I usually delete sentences which don't make sense grammatically.

I think that if we are writing sentences about science, history, or the like, it is not enough for them to be somehow grammatically correct. The content should also be as precise and true as we can make it. I think that’s always worth the effort. ☺

Part of learning a language is making educated guesses as to what something means.
It aids learning if the information is correct.
If you don't know what the word "organ" means here, and tried to guess its meaning in context, you'd likely get it wrong.

The nervous system consists of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system.
The central nervous system is made up of the brain and spinal cord.
The peripheral nervous system consists of the nerves and ganglia outside of the brain and spinal cord.

I guess in the sentence "The central nervous system consists of four organs." both central and peripheral nervous system are erroneously summed.

My feeling is that what should be done is to leave a comment, then wait 2 weeks to see if there are any people who think it's a bad idea to delete the bad example sentence, and if not, delete it.

In this case, 2 people like this sentence, so I just mark it as something I'll never use (by adding it to one of my lists), then ignore it.

To make the corpus more useful for those who want to use the data, but don't have time to proofread everything they use, it would be a good idea, in my opinion, to get rid of these kinds of sentences. Trang started this project with the idea of creating a high-quality corpus of sentences. It would be great if we could help her reach this goal.

My suggestion would still be deleting it and all of its translations and adding a similar but in every way accurate sentence in its stead, maybe a few sentences with all the vocabulary used here. (Science-fiction is fine, but I think it should be clearly recognisable as such. It shouldn't be an excuse for a questionable sentence.) For me, that would mean a direct improvement of Tatoeba.

To accommodate all parties concerned, I would suggest rephrasing the English sentence and changing accordingly all the other sentences linked to it.

So, should be delete this set or not?
